Abigail Liu and Tracy Chu conduct seminar on medical negligence to Queen Elizabeth Hospital staff

At the invitation of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (“QEH”), Abigail Liu and Tracy Chu delivered an introductory talk on medical negligence to QEH’s medical practitioners on 25 April 2023.

Kicking off the seminar, Abigail and Tracy delved first into the key legal principles and notable cases related to medical negligence and offered some guidance on obtaining valid consent from patients.

Having covered the civil liability of doctors, they moved on to discuss the law and recent cases of criminal proceedings against medical practitioners, in particular gross negligence manslaughter.

Abigail and Tracy also outlined the legal risks likely faced by doctors and offered suggestions on measures to manage such risks.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to QEH for giving Members of Denis Chang’s Chambers the opportunity to share our legal insights with QEH staff.
