On 16 April 2018, Denis Chang’s Chambers and 7Bedford Row Chambers in London successfully co-hosted a half-day forum on financial crime. The forum was attended by over 80 participants, including solicitors, government counsel, in-house counsel and finance professional.
Hectar Pun SC talked about the use of judicial review in criminal proceedings. Tim Parker gave a presentation onthe investigatory power of the Competition Commission in Hong Kong and what to watch out for in the coming months.
Collingwood Thompson QC presented on regulations over bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Andrew Wheeler QC discussed the difficult balance between the right to privacy and the need to have a robust anti-money laundering regime. Lastly, David O’Mahony gave an interesting talk on the English law of privilege in criminal investigation.
