Jose D’Almada Remedios joins Chambers as new tenant

We are delighted to announce that Jose D’Almada Remedios has joined Denis Chang’s Chambers as a tenant. Jose has a wide-ranging civil and criminal practice which sees him regularly instructed in a broad range of commercial disputes and white-collar defence work.

Jose has a mixed common law practice with experience across a range of disciplines and practice areas in both Hong Kong and outside the jurisdiction.

“I am delighted to join such a renowned and well-respected group of barristers, all of whom are well-known for their exemplary professionalism and expertise,” commented Jose. “I look forward to further building my domestic and international practice at Denis Chang’s Chambers.”

Jose’s commercial chancery practice has a particular emphasis on trust and probate litigation, mental health law, land, disciplinary proceedings, regulatory and securities law, and company-related matters. He also has significant experience in cases specifically concerning search warrants, Mareva injunctions, Anton Piller orders, and Norwich Pharmacal orders.

Jose’s criminal practice is predominantly white-collar in nature where his civil expertise and skill set has been most applicable. From 2012 to 2015, he advised and acted on behalf of the Government of Fiji in connection with multiple criminal proceedings in Suva, Fiji. Most notably, in November 2013, he appeared on behalf of the State against former Brigadier General Pita Ragolea Driti on charges of incitement to mutiny and sedition in relation to a planned coup d’état in the Republic of Fiji.
