APPOINTMENTS – Paul Harris SC elected as new Chairman of Hong Kong Bar Association

We are honoured to announce that Paul Harris SC has been elected Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association for the year 2021. Geoffrey Yeung has also joined the Bar Council alongside existing Members Robin D’SouzaRandy Shek and Jeffrey Tam 

Paul Harris SC – Chairman, Hong Kong Bar Association, 2021 

Paul Harris SC was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1993 and the Bar of England and Wales in 1976. He took silk in 2006. Paul is a public law and human rights specialist who also holds considerable experience of other areas of civil litigation. He practises in Hong Kong and in London, where he is a member of Doughty Street Chambers.  

 

Robin D’Souza – Member, Bar Council (since 2019) 

Robin practises in civil and commercial litigation with experience in the areas of company and shareholder disputes, insolvency, contracts, property, trust, probate, civil fraud, and asset recovery. Robin is Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association’s Standing Committee on the Future of the Bar Secretariat and Standing Committee on Technology. He also sits on the Standing Committees on Investment and the Standing Committee on Finance.  

Randy Shek – Member, Bar Council (since 2018) 

Randy is a highly experienced criminal advocate who is recognised for his long track record in handling public order offences and offences involving a civil liberties dimension. Randy also sits on the Hong Kong Bar Association’s Committee on Criminal Law and Procedure and the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and Human Rights.   

Jeffrey Tam – Member, Bar Council (since 2019) 

Jeffrey has established a solid practice in public law. He is also experienced in a broad range of civil work with an emphasis on land, probate, company and commercial law. Jeffrey has been Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Legal Aid Reform since 2019. He also sits on various other Committees including: Constitutional Affairs and Human Rights; Finance; and Patrick Yu Memorial Scholarship. 

Geoffrey Yeung – Member, Bar Council (since 2021) 

Geoffrey has a broad practice in general civil and commercial litigation, encompassing constitutional and administrative law, land law, insolvency, companies, probate, discrimination law, and criminal law. He is currently Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Young Barristers, and a Member of its Standing Committee on Equality and Diversity.
